Positions and stuff

Itinerary (details)
December 7th/06

Lunch: Each student rep is designated a tree, their grade will decorate it.

Each student rep will be given a set of lights, tinsil, and construction paper, whatever else the grade has brought, they may use on their trees.
Each grade will have 15 minutes to decorate their trees.

After Lunch: All student council setting up. (12:40-3:00)
· Picture display- Cassandra, Brianna, Justine, Jillian,Jennifer
· Setting up tables and decorating tables- Dani, Alisha, Kevin, Steph, Jennifer, kayleen
· Putting up Snowflakes and table places (Nicola and Bianca)
· Putting up lights around the gym/anything else- Jordan, Paul, Beattie? Simon, Kevin
· Sound/technical- Paul and Beattie

5:30 Pm (before the night) ALL STUDENT COUNCIL ARE TO BE AT THE SCHOOL IN THE GYM.

6:00 In the student lounge there will be a table set up to collect tickets
· Justine and Brianna will be collecting tickets for the night
· And also the 2 non perishable items to give away
6:00-6:15ish we are going to be showing Mr. Bean at this point? Kevin can do this.

6:20ish Dani will be introducing and explaining the “banquet table game” then actually doing it.

6:40-7:30 Dinner is served and eaten, Paul will entertain with jokes.

7:30- Gingerbread men Alisha, Dani, Kayleen, and Steph will bring out the gingerbread man and icing and candies for each table.

8:00 Games and entertainment
Jeopardy- $10 movie pass? (1/2 hour)
Best dressed couple- 5$ Tim Hortons gift certificates to give away. ( 15 mins )
Charades…. ?

9:00 pm Dancing
Beattie will be playing the music while Paul is trying to get everyone to dance. (?)

10:00- 11:00…. Clean up

ALL STUDENT COUNCIL MUST BE HERE FOR CLEAN UP.

We are just 9 days away!

hey everybody
Just to let you know... WE ARE NINE DAYS AWAY FROM THE SNOW BALL! If you aren't stressed yet, dont worry you probably will be by friday.
Alright so we are having our meeting tomrrow, yes meetings are now on tuesdays! we need to:
  • Split into committees... advertising needs to be coming up with music for dancing now.. christmas music is covered by me.
  • Decorating committee: We will be planning out the way everything will look for the night. This include table settings, different ways to make the gym look gorgeous... etc
  • Entertainment committtee: All games need to be worked oiut... or at least most of them. You guys should probably get a quick start on jepardy questions.

Alisha and I will be doing the shopping tomrorw, perhaps during our free block, but we have some great ideas.. so we'll let you know whats going on for decoraitng.

anyways, just thought i would update and let oyu know what's going on.

decoration

Hey guys!
i found some ideas on the internet today regarding decoration.....
so here they are...

Cut snowflakes from white paper and hang them on the walls (nicola and bianca said that they would do 50 snowflakes)!

Tie a red ribbon around a tall, slim drinking glass. Fill the glass with candy canes and display on a shelf or side table. ( each one per table, filled with little chocolates and candy canes)

Wrap indoor Christmas lights around a railing or banister. Secure periodically with tape. Be careful to tape down the electrical cord so that no one trips over it. (walkway for the modeling contest, with the “snow”)

Decorate with mittens or gloves(we could buy those cheap ones and put table #’s on them)


Purchase small bells from your craft store. Tie each bell to a piece of ribbon between 6" and 18" in length. Gather all of the ribbons together and knot together at the top. Drape the bells over a door knob so that they ring when someone enters or exits. ( I don’t know what were using this one for..) lol.

November 22nd meeting

Yesterday (sorry i didn't get a chance to post yesterday) we had our meeting... here's the minutes

Simon and Jordan discussed how the advertising to the community and whether or not "cows and rice" would work. We are still going to keep on going with it
We need to:
  • educate our school community about it
    • posters, class to class, solid group of people who are interested in "selling" this to the outside sommunity
  • Talk to the community outside
    • people are going to want to donate because it is a Thirdworld country
      • for bottle drives, carhwashes, and going to different businesses we are going to need to know what we are going to say... yes
Anyways guys that was yestrday's meeting.

The snowball is 14 DAYS AWAY... make sure all of student council (who can make it) buy their tickets ASAP, i need numbers
anyways committees need to meet on monday so that we can have everything all finished up
Alisha and I are going to finish buying all of the decorations this weekend... decoarting committee is meeting today... we might have to change it to monday.
Paul and Kevin are selling tickets today, and jordan and simon are on monday.

Catering

Alright guys so i finally got in touch with Louise
So here is the dealio

  • They are providing the cutlery and plates, as well as the banquet buffet tables
  • For food we are having: lasagna (veggie and meat), salads, and bread
  • Here is problem number one: they aren't providing drinks, however, i think thsi will work to our benefit, because they will leave after dinner is finished, and take everything with them
    • We can just make punch, i have 2 punch bowls, and ask if mrs stensaker could watch them for us, and make that happpen
  • Dessert= us and ginger bread men. we need to buy the icing for them, etc.
  • 6:30= dinner time. They will be out the here by 8:00
  • She said that she would be there @ 6, and they would prepare the salads, but everything else would be ready when they got here.
  • She is going to call me again on December 6th, and we'll go through eveyrhting for that night..
Anyways guys, i just thought i would let you know :)
We might want to add more tickets as well because today we sold 7 tickets, and a bunch of people are bringing more money for tomrrow. just a reminder that jillian and jennifer are selling tickets tomrrow in the hallway at lunch. We will have a psoter for you as well... There will also be a cash box!! lol, i know we had problems with that today.
I am thining 90 ppl, and then we'll cover the staff so they can eat free because they are giving their time to us... so yes pelase get back to me

Alright guys so Lishe and I gave mrs roxburgh a intinterary. Here's how the night looks

Thursday, December 7th:
Lunch:

· Decorating tree contest

o (If we don't get fake trees then we'll do the real ones, at superstore), and the contest will be in the gym.

o They have 15 minutes to decorate the tree in whatever style they want, however, they only have lights, tinsel, and construction paper to create the decorations

Last block:

· All Student Council will be called to the gym to set up and start decorating

oLights need to be set up, tables, candles, trees from the contest, table clothes, picture wall, "snow", etc

We need to be finished setting up by 4:30 @ the latest, so people have time to get home and get ready, because they need to be back by 5:30ish.

5:30: All of student council needs to be at the gym for final prep, etc.

6:00: Doors open, tickets need to be collected, and people can seat themselves. There will be music on, etc.

oOnce everyone is there, then we can do one or two games opening the night up
Dinner is served, and people will go in order, etc

6:30 to 7:30= dinner being eaten

o During this time maybe Paul can entertain every once in a while?

7:30: Dessert will be served, and the ginger bread men are there. Everyone will decorate their own and eat it

8:00: Games and Entertainment

· All the competitions will be during this time: best dressed couple, individual, draws, jeopardy etc...

9:00: Dancing


10:00: This will be the end

From 10 to 11 it will be clean up

The catering company will be contacting me tomrorw morning around 11 am. I will psot all of ht info on here, so please check out this thing tomrorw some time after 11am!

We also have the decorating lists... Lishe will also post that list later.

important

ok, so i was running through what we have put together, and everything is feeling a little disorganzied...
What we need to do:
Decorating committee-> come up with an overall plan of how the set up will be, what type o f tables we will be using (remember we want 8 to a table), where are the table cloths coming from, centre pieces, picture wall, lights (my family has lots of icicle lights, the white ones, we can use), candles, trees, bench, etc
Entertainment committee-> definite scheadule of what games are being done, do we want to use the reindeer game that mrs karsgaards husbadn will do for us (guess who is who when they are morphed to look like a reindeer), definite scheadule, etc
Advertisement/ music committee-> music needs to compiled, that means for christmas songs and dancing music at the end (im thinking we may need some slog songs... maybe?), it is called the Snow Ball, so all the posters need to be labeled that way with $14 and two non perishable items bolded that people know they HAVE to have that stuff... etc

Chaperons: Mr Kennedy, Ms Ng (would you like to bring jamie?), Mrs Karsgaard (mr k too?), anyone else.. mrs stensaker?

Basically we need to have a deifinite scheadule written up too

Things For Mrs Roxbrough

Ok so steph talked to Mrs Roxbrough,
and everything is a go except we NEED to have an outline of how the dinner and entertainment and dancing is going to go.
we also need a sheet with all of our "needs" (things that we need to buy, whatever) so yeah, i will do the decoration one and someone else will do the entertainment one. any takers? Mrs Roxbrough wanted them in early next week. So yeh that is all for now

so basically the reps have no yet talked to their classes, which needs to happen by tomrrow BEFORE our meeting.. i need numbers ASAP.
I am thinking around 80 people... and that may be pushing it?
The assembly is tomorrow, and lishe and i will be discussing all of it with the students.. hoot!
ok and we were talking to some of the kids.. and they want it to be the SNOW BALL...? is that possible, doesn't the reform church do it? not sure, but we're thinking it will work
Waivers are coming as of tomrrow...
Tickets will be sold on thursday at lunch--> bri and jay! other partners please look and see when its your turn

from steph: Just another thought that I would like 2 run by you guys: What about a fundraising Fashion Show?! Our school could totally pull it off - as long as we start planning early! My friend and I helped her mother, the Art teacher, organize our whole Art fashion show earlier this year - it was a HUGE success! We could have it next year sometime... Anyway, just a thought! COWS AND RICE? new name please...
Ok so... we have chosen that we want to shoot for $15,000 this year for our outreach project, it is alot of money. BUT WE CAN DO IT!!!!
and to get started we decided to do a "penny drive" Kayleens awsome idea!

So.... we need to....
Get 6 water jugs or 5 (depending on whether we want teachers in on this). I think Simon was going to figure that one out?

The assembly is on Wednesday november 15h.... jordan has that figured out.. make sure you guys are all there
Then. the penny drive is pretty easy, if we exaplin how its going to work at the assembly, we dont have to make posters or anything.


Christmas Banquet: The Winter Bliss? We need to vote on this still!!
When: December 7th
How long: 4 hours, 6 to 10
Who's catering: Star 5 Caterers
How much: $14 and 2 non perishable items for a family in our community
FORMAL: there will be posters out showing the dress attire on tuesday morning (14th)
Where are we selling tickets: in the hall ways at lunch every tuesday and thursday until the last week where it will be every day!
How many people: 80 to 100.. we have to decide on thsi still

If you are making a poster it needs to have all of this information on it! (except for the last one about how many ppl)

Groups have been split up

Decoration committie:
Jillian, Jennifer Dani, Brianna, Steph, Justine, Alisha, and Cassandra
This group needs to have a meeting by the end of the week to figure out what needs to be bought for decorations, etc, how the place will look, and the general set up.

Entertainment Committee:
Simon, Paul (MC), Kay, Dani, Lishe, and christine
You guys also need to have ameeting by the end of the week to get things started.

Advertisement/ Music committtee:
Jordan, Paul, Kevin, Jennifer, Jillian, Bri, Jay, and Jordan, dani and lishe
You guys also need to have a meeting by the end of the week to decide how poster should be done, what type of music will be there, etc

Tickets will be on sale on November 14th at lunch in the hallway. Remember that we are selling them every tuesday and thursday, until the final week before it when it will be everyday.. MAKE SURE IF PEOPLE INVITE THEIR FRIENDS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS THAT THEY GET A WAIVER!!
